First Day of Fall

We couldn't have asked for better fall-like weather in Florida for this 1st Day of Fall! It was a cool 76 degrees...I know your laughing because 76 isn't cool, but with a breeze it is for Florida! We wanted to celebrate this day, so after reading a book called We're Going on a Leaf Hunt.... We went on a leaf hunt!
They were acting like kids in a candy store... running and grabbing leaves and showing their friends the beautiful colors on their leaves.

After we had our fun in the fall leaves we began a science experiment with them.
We had 4 jars that had 4 different color of leaves. The kids tore the leaves in tiny pieces. Then I poured rubbing alcohol into each glass.

They each were able to come up and take a closer look. They all noticed that the alcohol was clear and the leaves were on the bottom of the glass.

They were using their Science Journal to write what we were doing and their predictions.

Then we played with our leaves... We made sun-catchers, leaf rubbings, and leaf art.

We had a great day celebrating Fall!
