Skyping with Sharks For Kids

Today our class and Mrs. Schmidt's class Skyped with Jillian from Sharks for Kids.

She taught us so much about the importance of sharks and how we need to spread the word to save them!

Here she showed us how a shark's skin is different from a regular fish with scales.

Here are some photos of "mermaid purses" shark eggs.

Here she is swimming with sharks!

What a greT opportunity to talk with a marine biologist who loves sharks!

Our Day of Showing

Show What You Know Hour on April 15, 2015

Everyone worked so hard and had a great day sharing what they know! :)
Thank you to everyone who came to support our class!

Preparing for Show What You Know Hour

After spending two weeks learning about Nonfiction text features, we began deciding on what we wanted to research. What was our most burning question, and how were we going to find the answer.

Our list of nonfiction text features

Once they decided on their topic, the kids began their research. We pulled books from our classroom library, our school library, & articles online. Their first job was to write an informational piece on their topic. Then they needed to plan their poster of nonfiction text features. For their poster, they needed to have at least 3 nonfiction text features about their topic.
