Whitney Lab Field Trip

Today was our Whitney Labs in school Field Trip. We began by learning what "marine animals" are and that all of the animals that we were going to learn about today didn't have a back bone.
Florida Lobster

Horse Conch

Horse Shoe Crabs

Sea Stars

These Horse Conchs kept squirting out water! Once they got Jacob in the face.

We learned that these Sea Snails grow with their shell.

The female horseshoe crab is larger than the male.

The male fiddler crab has one larger claw and the female doesn't.

This was his honest face when the lobster was placed in his hands. :)

He did smile once he realized I was taking a picture.

Sea Urchins

Our final quiz after all we learned. :) They said this was their favorite field trip so far!

American Indian Study

We began our unit with a lot of research on American Indian tribes. Each group put together a poster of information and then had a building activity. They needed to recreate the type of home their tribe lived in, using the materials provided and some materials they had collected on their own.
