Informational Text for Bubble Gum Days

I wanted to share what we are doing in the Library to go along with Bubble Gum Day...

When the students come in, we collect the $ and pass out the gum! As they chew their gum we discuss adjectives to describe our Bubble Gum, I write their words on a class bubble gum descriptions page that we are hanging on the doors of the Library!
I read aloud Pop! The Invention of Bubble Gum and we discuss Walter Diemer and his will to not give up on something he was passionate about!
We also watched this clip on YouTube that shows how gum is made...

Our students at OPE can't wait to celebrate Bubble Gum Day next year!

Bubble Gum Day at OPE

We had a BLAST!
Our first author Skype with Ruth Spiro was a huge success, she read a 3rd grade class her book, Lester Fizz, the Bubble Gum Artist and then answered questions from a class of curious students!
Our students will never forget this day and it is sure to be a new tradition here at OPE!
Thanks to Ruth who was so generous of her time!
