We kicked off our opinion writing unit by reading 

I Wanna Iguana 

 

and I Wanna New Room

 These two books inspired us to write our very own persuasive letter to our principal Mr. Strickland. We discussed what we wanted to ask him for and we made sure it was something that we would really need to convince him to let us have. Our class decided on a bubblegum machine... Here is our letter to Mr. Strickland.

 

Today we got our response, the kids LOVED his letter back to them... even though he didn't agree with us!

We are having a blast with our opinion unit!

Sole Hope

 

Mrs. Schmidt's Class and Mrs. Underwood's class teamed up for a Sole Hope shoe cutting party!

They did such a great job tracing shoe patterns onto the fabric and jeans! we know this is small, but we can all be World changers! :) More classes from our school will also be holding shoe cutting parties to support Sole Hope! Forces in Motion

 We kicked off our unit on Forces in Motion with a song that the kids loved! We learned the vocabulary and explored motion with fun experiments.

 

We were learning about friction here. Which car won? The car on the construction paper ramp or the car on the sandpaper ramp.

Everyone got a chance to race a car. :)

Then we had Motion Mania today with bubbles, cars, a giant pinwheel, bouncy balls, marbles, and a bay blade (I have no idea if that is how you spell that, but it was the closest thing to a top).

 Wow! That pinwheel sure moved faster with the fan!

We were experimenting with motion today. Learning that the marble goes faster going down a higher point, than a lower point.
