Our Opossum Click Beetle
We read The Very Clumsy Click Beetle and the kids curiosity was ignited!
http://youtu.be/fKYwtyUkKAc - The story The Very Clumsy Click Beetle on You Tube
We began researching click beetles and even found this video, so that we could see how the click beetle clicks and snaps!

Then!!!! They found a click beetle on the playground,(it was not moving, so we thought it was dead) so of course we brought it in the classroom! We laid it on the counter, because it was DEAD!
45 minutes later and a lot of screaming we realized the little guy was just playing dead!
After observing it click for a day, we let it go!
Our first grade year has come to an end...
But, the relationships that I made this year will continue for a lifetime! This past school year has been like no other. I had THE most supportive group of parents that I have ever had and the their kids are amazing! I will miss teaching them, but so happy that I will still get to see them as they flourish in second grade at Cunningham Creek! I am always just a hallway away! Love you, my first group of Underwood Sharks!
Making Crystals
I've been wanting to do some science because the kids LOVE it, so before school ended, we began making crystals.
I wish I could add a fantastic after photo, but this experiment was a dud, I am most likely the one who did it wrong, but all be got was jars of colored, frozen water! oh, well, we talked about what we think we could do different to get different results. The school year ended WAY too quickly!
